EGCG Snapple Commercial

Sorry for not blogging the past few days. I have been busy with other things. But I'm back now and hope to not do that again. :P

So I just love those Snapple commercials, and since green tea is a great source of antioxidants I thought I'd post up one of the commercials. Enjoy!

Blueberries

With summer coming up, it's time for blueberries!

Much on these all summer long for some great antioxidants. Blueberries are one of the best sources of antioxidants of all fruits and vegetables.

They are also really great taste wise! Especially when they are big and juicy. We have a blueberry bush in our backyard and it produces some really awesome blueberries!

Make some blueberry cobbler or pies this summer, not only will you have a great dessert, but you'll get some antioxidants too!

Thanks for reading, have a nice night!

Antioxidants - Can they make you look younger?

'If only there were a fountain of youth', many of us may say with a sigh. But hey, cheer up...there just may be...except it's not a fountain. It's what you find in foods! Did you know that antioxidants may just be able to help you preserve youth and youthful looking skin?!

Is it as simple as just eating antioxidant rich foods? Possibly!

Antioxidants prevent against aging is a result of certain molecules reacting with free radicals to produce stable molecules that don't react with the body's tissue cells. Although the human body produces some of its own antioxidants, many come from the foods we eat. Antioxidants are not all the same either and they aren't all found in the same foods. So in order to get good antioxidants with anti-aging properties, you should eat a variety of foods that contain these beneficial molecules.

The best sources of antioxidants are in brightly colored fruits and vegetables. Which could include broccoli, brussel sprouts, spinach, carrots squash, red bell peppers, tomatoes, berries, plums, grapefruit, apricots, oranges, peaches, and grapes. You can also easily get antioxidants from dried fruit!

Free radicals harm health

Free radicals can harm your health. Taking antioxidants can help fight off free radicals. So in a sense, antioxidants promote good health.

Sure, we already know this. Antioxidants are important. Eat plenty of different fruits and vegetables and you can get you antioxidants in. Eat them every day, 5 to 9. And if you have a hard time getting them in each day, try juicing your fruits and vegetables or making fruit smooties with low fat yogurt or orange juice.

You can also drink tea or coffee to get more antioxidants as well. Green tea is the best. Try not to add too much sugar or cream into them though to keep them even healthier.

That's all I have for tonight. Thanks for reading! :)

Chocolate...mmmmm!

Resent studies have been made that have said that chocolate is full of antioxidants. But what kind exactly?

Dark Chocolate!

White chocolate and milk chocolate are not as good as dark. It has been said that milk may actually interfere with the absorbtion of antioxidants. Which is why milk chocolate is not as good for you on the antioxidant list.

That's no excuse to just go eat a bunch of chocolate to get your antioxidants, because fruits and vegetables are still much much better for you and contain other antioxidants that your body needs. However, if you absolutely are craving chocolate...instead of getting a milk chocolate candy bar. Get DARK chocolate instead. Take it easy on the amount though.

It's just a bit of good news for those of us who are choco-holics. We can't forget to balance our diets though, and cut back on the chocolate. ;)

Antioxidant Rich Fruits

You don't have to be an expert to know what foods are rich in antioxidants. It's quite obvious really. Most fruits and vegetables have antioxidants our body needs. Here's a short list of a few antioxidant rich fruits that you can find in your local supermarket.

Apples (like I said yesterday)
Blueberries
Cranberries
Strawberries
Blackberries
Raspberries
Cerries
Plums

Notice how most of that list are "berries"? Most berries are one of the best sources of antioxidants. The highest antioxidant rich fruits are blueberries, cranberries, and blackberries!

It shouldn't be too hard for you to get the antioxidants your body needs if you just eat plenty of fruits and veggies.

I hope you have a great day, come back and see us!
