'If only there were a fountain of youth', many of us may say with a sigh. But hey, cheer up...there just may be...except it's not a fountain. It's what you find in foods! Did you know that antioxidants may just be able to help you preserve youth and youthful looking skin?!
Is it as simple as just eating antioxidant rich foods? Possibly!
Antioxidants prevent against aging is a result of certain molecules reacting with free radicals to produce stable molecules that don't react with the body's tissue cells. Although the human body produces some of its own antioxidants, many come from the foods we eat. Antioxidants are not all the same either and they aren't all found in the same foods. So in order to get good antioxidants with anti-aging properties, you should eat a variety of foods that contain these beneficial molecules.
The best sources of antioxidants are in brightly colored fruits and vegetables. Which could include broccoli, brussel sprouts, spinach, carrots squash, red bell peppers, tomatoes, berries, plums, grapefruit, apricots, oranges, peaches, and grapes. You can also easily get antioxidants from dried fruit!
